Welcome to Digital Photo Alchemy

The magic of frozen in time moment can be extracted by transforming pictures taken by a camera ( or smartphone )…  This nearly alchemical process I call “Digital Photo Alchemy” …

Welcome to my personal Photography and Art Blog

I created this website in order to share my photography and art.
My BLOG posts (articles) reflect my most recent work.

All pictures presented here were captured with my camera ( or smartphone ) and digitally enhanced in Photoshop and/or Deep Dream Generator.

To see images organized by categories, use “Browse a Category” blue button.

Introduction to Digital Photo Alchemy

The world which surrounds us is filled with objects which vary from very simple to incredibly complex. Our primary interaction with this world is visual in nature. That is why appeal of Photography is so common.

This website offers you an opportunity to appreciate the beauty we are part of.  Some of you may even experience connection with nature on a new (metaphysical) level…

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Everything is made out of 3 Building Blocks (electron, proton, neutron)

The concept that matter is composed of discrete units and cannot be divided into arbitrarily tiny quantities has been around for millennia, but these ideas were founded in abstract, philosophical reasoning rather than experimentation and empirical observation. The nature of atoms in philosophy varied considerably over time and between cultures and schools, and often had spiritual elements. Nevertheless, the basic idea of the atom was adopted by scientists thousands of years later because it elegantly explained new discoveries in the field of chemistry.

The atom is a basic unit of matter that consists of a dense central nucleus surrounded by a cloud of negatively charged electrons. The atomic nucleus contains a mix of positively charged protons and electrically neutral neutrons (except in the case of hydrogen-1, which is the only stable nuclide with no neutrons). The electrons of an atom are bound to the nucleus by the electromagnetic force. Likewise, a group of atoms can remain bound to each other, forming a molecule. An atom containing an equal number of protons and electrons is electrically neutral, otherwise it has a positive charge if there are fewer electrons (electron deficiency) or negative charge if there are more electrons (electron excess). A positively or negatively charged atom is known as an ion. An atom is classified according to the number of protons and neutrons in its nucleus: the number of protons determines the chemical element, and the number of neutrons determines the isotope of the element.

Deoxyribonucleic acid ( DNA) is a nucleic acid containing the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms (with the exception of RNA viruses). The DNA segments carrying this genetic information are called genes. Likewise, other DNA sequences have structural purposes, or are involved in regulating the use of this genetic information. Along with RNA and proteins, DNA is one of the three major macromolecules that are essential for all known forms of life.

Fractal Nature of the Universe

In physical cosmology, fractal cosmology is a set of minority cosmological theories which state that the distribution of matter in the Universe, or the structure of the universe itself, is a fractal. One often cited description that Mandelbrot published to describe geometric fractals is “a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole”.

Understanding Transmutation as the Basis of Alchemy

Alchemy is best known for its belief that lead can be transmuted into gold. However, the transmutation of non-precious metals into gold is simply a metaphor for the soul being freed from a “dead, leaden state of mind,” to that of realising its own light nature and that is derived from pure spirit. The alchemists believed that the basis of the material world was a Prima Materia, or prime chaotic matter, which might be actuated into existence if impressed by “form.” The “forms” arose in the shape of the elements, earth, water, fire, and air. The Alchemists deduced that the limitless varieties of life were created out of the blending of the elements in particular proportions.

Understanding the greatest illusion which surrounds gives us another path to Enlightenment.

Enjoy the ride!

PS About Deep Dream Generator

Deep Dream Generator is a free website that offers tools for creating mind blowing special effects for your images. It goes beyond Photoshop plugins… It can convert your images into amazing surreal art.

You can upload your image as the base image and select another image as the style for it and the software will generate a new image based on AI algorithm.
The results are amazing.

Note: DeepDream is a computer vision program created by Google engineer Alexander Mordvintsev which uses a convolutional neural network to find and enhance patterns in images via algorithmic pareidolia, thus creating a dream-like hallucinogenic appearance in the deliberately over-processed images.

PS About Flickr

Flickr is almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world.

It enables people to:

  • organize their photos and videos online
  • make them available via Internet to anyone (or just to the people who matter to them)
  • receive feedback about their photos ( likes and comments)

Flickr makes it easy to upload photos and videos from the web, from mobile devices, from the users’ home computers and from whatever software they are using to manage their content.
Flickr makes all these things possible and more!
